Laptop: Did You Know That Your PC May In Fact Be Ageing You?

Your Laptop May Be Ageing You

Your laptop is an extension of you, but at what cost? In a world just bursting at the seams with all manner of electronic devices such as tablets, Android phones and laptop computers, it comes as a shock to hear that many of these devices may actually be ageing us at a more rapid rate than UVA/UVB from the sun.

Computers emit a light known as High Energy Visible (HEV) light, this light falls within the colour spectrum of blue and/or violet light and therefore originates from the same part of the colour spectrum as both UVA and UVB light.

Your laptop and HEV rays may even result in the following conditions:

– pigmentation

– advanced photo-ageing

– oxidative stress on the skin by free radicals

– causes inflammation of the skin

It is therefore important to wear an SPF sunscreen daily to the office, take regular breaks away from your pc. It is going to be essential to invest in your skin and take countermeasures against ageing to prevent premature ageing and stress on the skin.

We recommend treatments such as:

Chemical Skin Peels

Microdermabrasion

Microneedling

Treatments such as these help support the skin by stimulating it’s natural repairing capabilities, boosting collagen and elastin production and as such aiding the skin in keeping ageing at bay.

We recommend cosmeceutical grade skin care and highly recommend Heliocare sun protection products, Lamelle/ Skin Ceuticals/ Dermaquest and Obagi skin care and as a desktop essential … the Dermalogica Antioxidant Mist to spritz throughout the day.

For most of us computers form part of our work environment and are unavoidable, so take care and slap on the sunscreen.
