Less Stress: 7 easy steps to a more relaxed lifestyle
23 Feb 2017
Less stress is it a myth? Stress is not a variable but rather a given in the world in which we live. Jobs are more pressured, resulting in timelines which require instant action, and our bodies just can’t keep up.
Neglecting our bodies, will result in burnout and adrenal fatigue. Chronic stress is a silent killer and requires a long journey to try and regain a sense of wellbeing. This process will require assistance from with a health practitioner or doctor.
Less stress, your action plan:
1. Manage your time
Try to set up flexible little routines; these give you comfort in getting through your day but do allow for flexibility and change when necessary. Create a short list of what you need to do for the day so that you do not need to try and remember later in the day when you are tired.
2. Move often
Prioritize activity and avoid sitting at your desk all day ‘banging away’ at the keys. Therefore, a five-minute stretch is far more productive, it keeps you mentally alert, and functioning properly.
3. Prepare the evening before for the day ahead
Preparation is key. Make your lunches and the breakfast table the night before. Lay out your outfit for the next day and have it ready to slip on and go.
4. Enjoy and be grateful
Enjoy the little things like a skinny cappuccino, or a lunch date with your girlfriends. Remember to recite what you are thankful for and not focus on the stress … you are what your mind hears.
By just taking 5 minutes 3 times a day to push back from your desk, sit with your feet apart and firmly planted on the ground. Close your eyes, zone out and take a few deep breaths. Since these deep breaths put oxygen back into the bloodstream, it results in assisting your body to cope with the onslaught of stress. As a result, it will improve your mental focus … and breathing.
6. Enjoy nature
Make it a habit of going for a walk after work, because nature is a natural stress relief and anti-depressant. We are more relaxed as a result of the production of Vitamin D when our skin is exposed to the sun.
7. Sleep well
It is important to get 7 hrs of uninterrupted rest in a dark, quiet, well-ventilated room. If you are still struggling to switch off, try a herbal nutraceutical sleep aid such as Benesom because it helps you to sleep deeply and turn off. As a result, these changes equate to less stress and a restful sleep pattern.
